A Christian Book Review…

LAUREN THE COW by T I Frazier - a Christian Book Review

It’s no secret: for years I’ve ranted about our beloved Animal Stories being relegated to the Children’s Shelf.

Adult fiction, from Jack London’s THE CALL OF THE WILD and WHITE FANG as well as Sir Charles G D Roberts’ Realistic Animal Stories — to André Alexis’s FIFTEEN DOGS and Yevgenia Belorusets’ MODERN ANIMAL have all appeared on Kid’s Lit shelves.

But of course there are great Animal Stories that are written for children (although free to be read by grownups). A new release is Timothy Frazier’s LAUREN THE COW.

“Writer of faith and combat veteran brings an uplifting story of self-belief to young readers.”

As stated in a recent Press Release: “Author T.I. Frazier uses his stories to communicate lessons of strength to his readers. Through his writing, his goal is to change the way people — especially youth — think in order to leave a larger positive footprint on the world.

“His first book achieved this for adults through sharing his personal journey of faith and self-discovery. His newest release is a picture book, LAUREN THE COW, whose heartfelt message inspires young readers to explore their capabilities and always believe in themselves.”

In his story, Lauren is a young Jersey cow who lives with her mom on a farm in the countryside, who has a dream to become a jumping cow. But cows don’t jump…do they? Lauren is determined and begins training in earnest to strengthen her legs and improve her jump height.

She feels confident with each day until a failure makes Lauren doubt herself. When her friend, Tim the fox, encourages her to reach for the sky, that is exactly what Lauren does with a newfound belief in herself….and soars higher than she ever imagined.

This heartfelt story will inspire young readers to try new things, explore their capabilities, and push themselves to achieve their dreams by believing in themselves. Families and educators of young children will welcome a book that will invite further discussion about this important social emotional learning topic.

A great and generous story!  Wonderfully illustrated by Meritxell Andreu!

Christian writer T I FrazierAuthor T.I. Frazier is also the author of FAITH ARISING, a Christian self-help and personal transformation book. Inspirational books & Children’s Stories.

He served in the National Guard for ten years, having been deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom and also serving for a time as a chaplain assistant. His goal, whether through his books or speaking engagements, “is to change the way people — especially youth — think in order to leave a larger positive footprint on the world.”

LAUREN THE COW is his debut children’s book.

How the Bear Lost its Tail – A Traditional Bear Folktale RetoldIf so, then you’ve gotta read my retelling of the oldest known Bear Story of them All!  Listen!

“Long ago — when our Sacred Green Earth was young and much more alive — Bear, like his cousins the Wolf and the Fox, had a long beautiful tail.

“One chilled winter day, Bear shuffled down to the lake and saw that Fox was feasting on some fish.  Licking his chops, Bear asked him, ‘Say, Fox, ol’ friend, how did you manage to catch all those fish?’

“The cunning fox saw his chance to make a fool of Bear…”
